Preconstruction Manager - Diverse Projects - NW Indiana
Reports To: Director of Preconstruction
Overview
The Preconstruction Manager plays a key role in the planning phase of construction projects, ensuring that estimates, schedules, and coordination are completed in a timely and accurate manner. This individual will work closely with project managers, estimators, and design professionals to help set projects up for success. The role requires strong organizational, technical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and contribute to overall project goals.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
Minimum 4 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or construction management, Healthcare project experience a plus
Strong communication skills with ability to work collaboratively with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
Working knowledge of construction processes, contracts, safety standards, and scheduling
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with estimating, scheduling, and project management software is a plus
Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines under pressure
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate project cost estimates, proposals, and preliminary construction schedules
Support project teams in preconstruction activities including budgeting, scheduling, and value engineering
Manage bid solicitations, vendor proposals, bid reviews, and recommendations for award
Maintain cost databases, historical cost records, and vendor databases
Assist in document control, RFI coordination, and procurement processes
Conduct quantity takeoffs and cost analysis for all trades, including self-performed work
Participate in project walkthroughs and communicate existing conditions or scope concerns
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, supporting new business opportunities
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards throughout the preconstruction process
Contribute to continuous improvement of preconstruction procedures and practices

Add measurable value to the project team through effective planning and coordination
Ensure stakeholders are satisfied with preconstruction services and project support
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to company policies
