Manufacturing Operations Manager

The Operations Manager is a proactive and collaborative leader responsible for driving performance and continuous improvement in a fast-paced repair and remanufacturing environment. This role requires a self-driven individual who thrives in a heavy-industry setting, leading teams to achieve results in safety, quality delivery, and cost.

Essential duties & responsibilities include:

  • Identifying, implementing, and supporting process improvements in the areas of safety, environmental, quality, and Lean Manufacturing
  • Building collaborative relationships with other organizational departments including HR, Finance, Sales, Engineering, and Operations at other locations
  • Demonstrating urgency in production challenge resolution without compromising safety, quality, or delivery on customer commitments
  • Support overall facility strategy, including capacity planning, establishment of targets, and technical process development
  • Proactive disposition and initiative to implement solutions to issues before they arise
  • Achieve performance goals in safety, quality, delivery, and cost through team leadership
  • “Good faith bargaining” in labor/management negotiations: ability and determination to arrive at mutually agreeable solutions
  • Allocation of resources (labor, capacity, materials) to optimize productivity
  • Participation in team meetings for strategic planning and to help improve product line performance
  • Adaptability to a shifting reality, ability to adjust initiatives and priorities accordingly
  • Knowledge of budgeting processes, ability to assess company’s earnings and spending to find areas for improvement
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Pursuing professional growth through participation in continuing education programs, workshops, meetings & reading current literature
  • Performing related duties as assigned by the COO while fostering an environment of accountability and collaboration

Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing and operations
  • Proven experience implementing operational improvements that reduce lead time, improve efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001: 2015
  • Continuous improvement and lean experience
  • Union experience; negotiating; working within
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and other computer skills
  • Organizational skills & the flexibility to jump from priority to priority: this is essential to a role that juggles a variety of functions and projects
