Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Battery Storage Project Manager to lead the execution of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This role is responsible for managing all phases of BESS projects—from late-stage development through commissioning—ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and technical excellence. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in battery energy storage technologies, project management, and stakeholder coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle of BESS projects, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, construction, and sales to ensure project success.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Oversee installation and commissioning of electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, inverters, and SCADA.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental protocols.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders including utilities, vendors, and contractors.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, design reviews, and technical documentation preparation.
  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and process optimization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Electrical preferred).
  • PMP certification is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project management within the renewable energy or power sector.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale energy projects ($20M+), especially in BESS, solar, or wind.
  • Strong understanding of battery energy storage systems and substation BOP systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Procore, NetSuite).
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% for site visits and stakeholder meetings.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA).
  • Familiarity with renewable energy integration and grid services.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
