Our team is looking for a qualified, ambitious, and enthusiastic Graphic Designer to support our Planning team. HWC’s goal is to create graphically rich planning documents that tell an engaging story of how a community will achieve its future vision. We are looking for an individual who to lead the design of compelling visual materials, working closely with HWC’s professional planners to translate technical content into engaging graphics.

In this role, the individual will design materials that build awareness of planning initiatives, encourage public participation, illustrate in-progress ideas, and visually capture the community vision in a way that supports long-term decision making. These materials will address topics such as land use, development, economic vitality, downtown revitalization, parks and recreation, and bicycle and pedestrian connectivity.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Develop branding for planning initiatives including logos, colors, and associated materials.
  • Develop project websites for planning initiatives.
  • Prepare promotional materials for events such as flyers and social media graphics.
  • Prepare graphic design layouts for planning reports, slide decks, and presentation boards.
  • Prepare graphics, charts, maps, and illustrations to make written content more engaging, including replacing text with graphics when appropriate.
  • Support document production using Adobe Creative Suite

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 4 years professional experience
  • Proficiency in graphic design
  • Proficiency in managing multiple deadlines concurrently
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience preparing and formatting medium-to-large-scale report documents is desired (20 to 200 pages)
  • A background in technical writing, journalism, or related story telling is desired.
  • Familiarity with local government operations, community planning, community development, or economic development is desired, but not essential
