Overview

Data Analyst - Stamford, CT. We are looking for a Data Analyst IV who excels in writing detailed reporting requirements and translating data into actionable business insights. This role supports our Business Intelligence and reporting functions, with a focus on SQL understanding, cross-functional collaboration, and data visualization. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in interpreting data, drafting report wireframes, and communicating technical requirements to BI teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform extensive data collection, analysis, and validation using various sources such as relational databases, manual files, and external websites.
  • Design, write, and execute SQL queries for ad hoc data analysis and reporting. Create and publish both regularly scheduled and ad hoc reports.
  • Document reporting requirements and processes, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of data components. Test and validate reports and data extraction processes to align with business needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, product managers, business analysts, and business users, to understand requirements and communicate insights.
  • Leverage data visualization tools (MicroStrategy, Tableau, or Power BI) to create visualizations and dashboards that effectively communicate data insights.
  • Apply strong critical thinking to analyze complex data sets, identify issues, and propose actionable insights. Maintain high data quality and accuracy in all reports and analyses.
  • Understand and contribute to the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), specifically regarding reporting. Participate in requirements gathering, solution development, testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure reports meet business needs.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to write and understand SQL queries for data extraction, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel (charts, pivot tables, and functions) and PowerPoint to extract, manipulate, and present data effectively.
  • Familiarity with MicroStrategy is preferred, but experience with similar tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is acceptable. Ability to write and communicate requirements for future dashboard enhancements and new reports.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends, ask the right questions, and propose actionable insights from data.
  • High attention to detail and an understanding of the importance of data accuracy in decision-making processes.
  • Familiarity with the SDLC process as it pertains to reporting.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Telecom industry experience.

Location and Compensation

Stamford, CT. Salary range: $73,080 - $117,240. Other listed locations include Englewood Cliffs, NJ; Yonkers, NY; Pearl River, NY; Norwalk, CT with varying ranges as posted.
