Overview
Sr. Avionics Hardware Engineer role at Reliable Robotics Corporation. We are building safety-enhancing technology for aviation to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency of automated aviation systems. We are a team of mission-driven engineers spanning aerospace, robotics, and self-driving technologies.
The Avionics Hardware team develops core compute, actuation, sensing, and power electronics for our automation system. This role involves cradle-to-grave hardware ownership, hands-on testing, iteration, and deployment of designs. You will lead development of electrical components and sub-systems across airborne and test platforms from circuit-board level to integrated systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, document, test, and troubleshoot electronic assemblies from circuit-board to electro-mechanical level.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and test) as the hardware expert.
- Improve hardware through benchtop, environmental, and on-aircraft testing; conduct root-cause investigations to characterize, document, and rectify anomalous behavior in a safety-critical environment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the team’s development processes and practices through technical leadership.
Basic Success Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of full-lifecycle hardware development experience in a professional environment
- Experience developing and simulating complex and manufacturable PCB assemblies using Altium Designer and SPICE
- Ability to work within a team, including excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to methodically diagnose, document, and solve electronic hardware problems
Preferred Criteria
- Advanced degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering
- Experience with aviation development assurance standards (e.g. RTCA/DO-254 for Level A/B items or equivalent)
- Experience designing electronics to meet rigorous environmental standards (aerospace, military, automotive, or harsh industrial)
- Deep expertise in high-speed digital design, mixed-signal design, RF design, and/or power electronics design
- Proficiency with Python and/or MATLAB for analysis, data review, and test setup scripting
- Ability to work both independently and as a leader of a high performing team

Salary range: $162,000 to $220,000 per year plus cash and stock option awards and benefits. Reliable Robotics offers stock options, medical, 401k, a collaborative environment, and competitive compensation based on experience and market conditions.
