Related Management Company is hiring: Helper C / Janitor in Chicago

Overview of the position and its importance to maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive property. You will work with the maintenance team on routine cleaning, minor repairs, and preventative measures to support the property and residents.

Responsibilities

• Grounds & Common Areas: Sweep sidewalks, terraces, lobbies, and hallways; empty trash and recycling bins; respond quickly to spills, weather-related messes, or other safety hazards.
• Cleaning & Detailing: Clean and polish floors, glass, mirrors, brass, and woodwork; deep clean as needed (carpet cleaning, grout scrubbing, waxing floors); maintain the laundry room, fitness center, and management offices; report any damage or safety issues to the Resident Manager.
• Building Maintenance Support: Clean stairwells, service areas, and the compactor room; change light bulbs and help prepare units for new residents; use building systems to log tasks and report ongoing issues.
• Resident & Concierge Support: Cover the front desk during concierge breaks; monitor service doors during move-ins and deliveries; assist with unit inspections and ensure spaces look great for tours.
• Special Projects & Events: Help set up and clean shared spaces like lounges, rooftops, and gyms; support building events and gatherings by helping with logistics and cleanup; keep shared spaces looking welcoming and refreshed.
• Sustainability & Safety: Keep elevators, trash rooms, and amenity areas clean and odor-free; support recycling and compost programs; perform scent and cleanliness checks to ensure the building feels fresh; participate in team meetings and be open to cross-training.

Qualifications

• A strong work ethic and a helpful attitude.
• 1-3 years of experience in janitorial, porter, or cleaning roles is a plus.
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
• Ability to lift to 50 lbs and be on your feet for most of the shift.
• High attention to detail and pride in cleanliness.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation: $21.67 / HR
• Benefits: Local 1 Union
• Schedule: Friday - Tuesday 8:00am-5:00pm
