Responsibilities

  • Handle assignments in a repetitive and/or sequential order for completing tasks.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized.
  • Use safety gear at all times and follow safety regulations; report unsafe conditions or defective equipment to the supervisor immediately.
  • Clean up machinery and surrounding area; maintain them free of debris during downtime; clean machines and conveyors; clean floors and collect reusable scrap for salvage.
  • Transport trash and debris away from production areas; keep pallets neat and orderly.
  • Operate machinery or equipment as trained and instructed, following safety guidelines at all times.
  • Assist lead operator or supervisor in preparing for shift production; work closely with the lead operator to understand the mechanics and operation of the machine you assist.
  • May operate conveyors, ramps, elevators, hoppers, bagging and sealer machines, forklift, palletizers, hydraulic equipment, powered tractors or vehicles; internal certification/training is required for these tasks.
  • Operate a variety of hand tools; assist in loading/unloading trucks; assist in completing shipping/receiving documents; package and label products properly; handle stockpiles; verify loads leaving the premises; maintain, verify and count product inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned related to the job as needed.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions; follow company production and safety procedures
  • Able to pass internal certification training; ability to print and speak simple sentences
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide as required; lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to demonstrate lock out tag out procedures and keep key or lock with self at all times
  • Attend weekly safety meetings; good regular attendance is essential
  • Ability to stand for extended periods

Compensation

  • Pay rate: $20 - $21/hour, with a $2/hour differential for graveyard shift
  • Vacation: two weeks per year
  • Sick leave benefits per state laws
