Overview
The State of Minnesota, Department of Direct Care & Treatment (DCT), is seeking a Custodian/Housekeeper to provide custodial and housekeeping services for assigned areas within the Building Services Department at St. Peter Regional Treatment Center, campus buildings, and rental areas. The position is full-time, day shift, with duties performed under general supervision to maintain a clean, sanitary, and attractive environment for clients, staff, and other personnel.
Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain floors, windows, ceilings, walls, restrooms, client rooms, halls, offices, and other assigned areas.
- Operate mechanical cleaning equipment.
- Collect and dispose of garbage and recyclable items.
- Monitor cleaning and paper supplies for buildings.
- Perform duties as assigned to ensure a clean and safe environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of different types of flooring and cleaning methods; ability to select appropriate methods, materials, and equipment.
- Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents and safe handling, disposal, and application procedures.
- Familiarity with maintenance tools and equipment and safe operation with ability to perform minor repairs.
Ability
- Follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Perform tasks with limited supervision.
- Keep simple records.
- Maintain physical health and endurance to perform duties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience cleaning and maintaining a large facility, including floors and lighting.
- Commitment to cultural responsiveness and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs of equipment, move up to 100 lbs of furniture, and bend and reach as needed for cleaning tasks.
