Job Summary And Qualifications
As a PACU Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in the immediate post-operative care of surgical patients. Your responsibilities include managing airway support, monitoring neurological and cardiac status, responding promptly to complications, providing initial wound care, and ensuring patient stability during recovery. You will collaborate with the surgical and anesthesia team. This role includes on-call availability during select non-business hours, discussed in the interview.

- Rounding with unit leaders to ensure your voice is heard on patient care improvements.
What You Will Do In This Role
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices and improvement initiatives.
- Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team including providers and therapy staff.
- Apply the nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care.
- Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and thoroughly document changes and care provided.
- Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up measures.
What Qualifications You Will Need
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. If hired after 6/1/2012, BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 30 days of employment.
- Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license.
- ACLS and PALS within one month of hire.
- 2+ years of critical care experience (PCU, ED or ICU) required.
