Overview
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for administering and coordinating housekeeping functions in assigned sections, and for assuming all Housekeeping Manager duties in their absence.
Responsibilities
- Inspect Room Attendant’s work performance within the assigned section daily to ensure standards and productivity levels are met.
- In the absence of the Housekeeping Manager or Assistant, inspect VIP rooms and report availability to the Front Office according to hotel standards.
- Oversee the closing of floors at the end of the day and ensure Room Attendants’ carts are clean and restocked.
- Maintain records of daily assignments, ensure they are completed, signed off, and submitted to the Housekeeping Office on time.
- Maintain key control and handle Lost and Found items according to standards.
- Monitor cleanliness and orderliness of Room Attendants’ carts, linen closets, control closets, stairways and landings.
- Oversee daily assignment of duties, ensuring staff carry a work assignment.
- Carry an active pager/radio to maintain contact with the Front Office and Engineering throughout the shift.
- Report progress of out-of-order rooms to the Guest Services Manager according to standards; initiate and follow through on work orders for repairs and maintenance with Engineering.
- Assist with training of Housekeeping staff and, when needed, clean rooms to meet business needs.
- Ensure completion of cleaning projects on a biannual basis and strive to achieve overall guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in a related field is helpful.
- At least two to three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Previous supervisory responsibility is preferred.
- Ability to stand for the entire shift.
- Effective verbal and written communication with all levels of employees and guests in a courteous, service-oriented manner.
