Overview

Mgr Housekeeping role at Sage Hospitality Group – AC Hotel Portland Downtown. We’re looking for a Housekeeping Manager who is ready to lead a team and contribute to creating memorable guest experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, interview, hire, counsel, plan work schedules, and assign duties for Housekeeping associates.
  • Lead pre-shift meetings, communicate arrivals/departures, identify VIPs, and delegate room assignments and duties.
  • Assist the Executive Housekeeper in interviewing and selecting new associates.
  • Monitor housekeeping staff productivity and efficiency to inform promotions or changes in status.
  • Assist with employee relations, including handling complaints and disciplinary actions up to termination when necessary.
  • Determine materials, supplies, and tools to be used and managed.
  • Supervise and inspect cleaning of guest rooms, turndown service, public areas, and back-of-house areas; ensure compliance with safety, SOPs, and sanitation standards.
  • Implement emergency training and procedures to protect guests, staff, and assets.
  • Assign tasks to staff, review special requests, and concentrate areas to ensure smooth operations.
  • Issue supplies at the start of shifts to control inventory and expenses.
  • Respond to guest requests and concerns to maintain guest satisfaction; manage Lost and Found items as needed.
  • Ensure proper handling of guest requests and issues to uphold service standards.

Education/Formal Training

One to two years of post-high school education.

Experience

One to two years of employment in a related housekeeping/management role with this company or another organization.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Professional appearance and ability to meet standards of appearance.
  • Effective communication with guests and teams.

  • Climb stairs (approximately 40 steps, 15% of a 40-hour week).

Environment

Prolonged physical activity in an indoor, climate-controlled environment. Elevated heat and humidity in laundry areas; work primarily inside the facility.
