Position Purpose
Under supervision from the Custodial Squad Leader or Custodial Supervisor, performs a wide variety of tasks including cleaning, unskilled building maintenance, event setups, and animal and insect control. Tasks occur inside and outside a variety of the College’s facilities (offices, laboratories, eating facilities, public areas, auditoriums, etc.). Implements recycling procedures.

Education and Years of Experience: 1-2 years of experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge And Abilities
- One year experience related to custodial work
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others
- Ability to operate and maintain heavy industrial cleaning equipment (vacuum cleaners, powered scrubber, buffer, carpet shampooer) and other hand-operated tools
- Must be able to use a step-ladder to clean lighting fixtures, replace light bulbs, etc.
- Ability to understand and/or knowledge of safe use of various chemical substances used in cleaning purposes and insect control
- Familiarity or ability to learn different table/chair arrangements for event setups
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor, including lifting and carrying light to medium weight objects
- Must be willing to work mandatory overtime as required
- Must successfully complete Hazard Communication and Blood Borne Pathogens training prior to performing related work

Key Accountabilities
- On a daily basis or when appropriate: unlocks and locks assigned spaces; cleans, mops, strips, waxes, and buffs all hard surface floors; vacuums and shampoos carpeted offices, hallways and common areas; washes windows inside and outside; dusts office furniture and window sills.
- On a daily basis: cleans public restrooms and showers; disinfects toilets and sinks; wipes and cleans counters; replaces and stocks restroom supplies.
- On a daily basis: empties trash cans; implements recycling procedures; removes trash inside building and around perimeters to designated areas.
Additional Responsibilities
- Performs major setup and breakdown for events (e.g., setting up tables and chairs per work orders).
- Performs maintenance such as cleaning light fixtures and replacing bulbs as needed.
- Assists in event setup details, including covering tables as required.
- Seasonal/as-needed duties: snow removal and walkway maintenance.
