Dignity Health is hiring: Security Officer in Phoenix

Overview

As our Security Officer, you will monitor buildings and grounds on the property to ensure the safety and security of employees, patients, and other visitors. You may guard facility and unit access points, monitor surveillance cameras, test security technology, and protect all employees and visitors against acts of violence. You should remain calm, take action based on the situation and known facts, and respond to emergency codes in a timely manner. Previous experience in security or patrol in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a comprehensive inspection, test, and maintenance program for all security physical and electronic measures. Follow up on pending security issues.
• Implement requirements of the Security Management Plan. Manage and coordinate responses to critical incidents. Monitor and document actual and potential security breaches.
• Monitor existing security systems and technologies for possible security leaks or fraud.
• Conduct ongoing security orientation and training of assigned staff and may serve as Field Training Guard.
• Conduct routine safety patrols of assigned areas, reporting safety and security issues.
• Conduct access control and provide escorts for visitors to secure areas.
• Respond to requests for Security presence within the Emergency Department and assist staff as requested.
• Provide helipad and landing security, as applicable.

Minimum Qualifications

• Six (6) months experience as a Security Officer involving extensive public contact.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid AZ State Driver's License within 30 days of hire with satisfactory DMV report on hire and annually.
• American Heart Association-issued BLS card within 60 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• One (1) year experience as a security guard in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service.
• Completion of college-level education courses in Criminal Justice.
• Basic Health Care Security Officer (BSO).
