is seeking a
Senior Traffic Engineer – Supervising Traffic Engineer
to be based in the Bay Area or in Sacramento, CA. Work with a global infrastructure leader delivering projects that improve communities. AECOM is a Fortune 500 firm with a broad portfolio across water, environment, energy, transportation and buildings. This position provides an opportunity to contribute to multi-disciplinary projects and to mentor junior staff while delivering high-quality traffic engineering work. Responsibilities
Lead traffic studies for projects in California and support West Coast regional projects as needed. Provide technical input and guidance as a senior resource for the team; develop study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective work. Perform interdisciplinary review of project deliverables and participate in PS&E package development with input on budgets and schedules. Prepare technical specification sections and perform quality control reviews of design calculations or drawings. Provide input to the development of engineering budgets and project schedules; work with project teams to meet requirements. Offer guidance, mentorship, and coaching to entry-level and junior engineers or technicians to enhance technical skills. Utilize traffic simulation/modeling software and MS Office programs to support project tasks (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook; AutoCAD, Synchro, VISSIM, HCS as applicable). Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Certified Engineer (PE/TE/PTOE) license in California, or ability to obtain within 6 months. Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. 8+ years of relevant experience. Experience with traffic engineering projects and clients on the West Coast (CA, WA, OR, NV). Experience with ITS or emerging technology projects and familiarity with traffic operational analysis, safety analysis, and related processes. Experience with business development activities, including proposals and firm marketing. Familiarity with traffic modeling tools and platforms (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Synchro, VISSIM) and knowledge of local client requirements. Additional Information
