Overview The Catholic Parishes of the Church of the Crucifixion and St. Pius V in Jacksonville, Florida have an opening for the position of Director of Music Ministry. This role is responsible for the Music Ministry for both parishes and requires passing Safe Environment background screening, completing Protecting God’s Children training, and being a practicing Catholic.
Responsibilities
Select and place the music for all liturgies: weekend masses (2), seasonal and special celebrations, Holy Week, Advent, and Holy Days of Obligation.
Accompany all liturgies on piano.
Work with engaged couples in preparing wedding liturgies.
Work with the bereaved in preparing funeral liturgies.
Recruit, train, rehearse, and direct cantors, choir members, and instrumentalists.
Be current in knowledge or official statements and Church documents on music and liturgy; maintain a strong commitment to personal development in both music and liturgy.
Work collaboratively with the pastor to achieve a vibrant liturgical life in the parishes.
Qualifications
Must be a practicing Catholic living in accord with the moral norms of the Church.
Must pass Safe Environment background checks and attend Protecting God’s Children.
