Vocational Specialist

Position Summary Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the
Vocational Specialist
works directly with community members to help them identify career goals, overcome barriers, and access training or employment opportunities. This role involves developing individualized plans that support participants in entering skills training, education programs, or the workforce. The Vocational Specialist also provides pre-vocational counseling, life skills training, and job placement support.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial interviews to assess vocational and educational backgrounds.
Maintain a caseload and provide individual and group counseling.
Develop and monitor career plans outlining participants short- and long-term goals.
Assist with job development, placement, and post-employment counseling.
Facilitate workshops on employability, job readiness, and life skills.
Establish partnerships with training providers and employment services for participant referrals.
Meet defined service and engagement targets as outlined by program leadership.
Participate in community outreach, advocacy, and program marketing efforts.
Maintain accurate and compliant case records and prepare monthly progress reports.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in ongoing professional development.
Ensure program compliance with funding and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelors degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field (or four years of relevant experience in lieu of degree).
13 years of experience in career counseling, workforce development, or vocational rehabilitation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and with program participants.
Preferred:
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credential.
