Job Overview Research Coordinator, Berkeley School of Nursing, Georgetown University. The Research Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting Dr. Marea’s research program focused on reproductive justice, health inequities, and health system transformation to improve perinatal care outcomes. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple research projects simultaneously while maintaining the highest standards of research integrity and ethical conduct. The Research Coordinator will provide comprehensive support for research operations within Dr. Marea’s research program. This position involves coordinating multiple research studies, managing data collection and analysis processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and facilitating communication between research team members, study participants, and external partners. The Research Coordinator will play a critical role in maintaining research integrity while supporting the advancement of scientific knowledge in perinatal health systems research.
Duties
Coordinate day-to-day operations of multiple research studies and ensure adherence to study protocols
Manage research databases, oversee data collection procedures, and maintain data quality standards
Prepare and submit regulatory documents including IRB applications, amendments, and progress reports
Recruit and schedule study participants while maintaining detailed participant records
Support manuscript preparation, grant applications, and dissemination of research findings
Work Interactions The Research Coordinator works closely with the Principal Investigator (Dr. Marea) and research team members to ensure smooth operation of all research activities. This position serves as a key liaison between the research team and external stakeholders including study participants, community partners, healthcare organizations, and funding agencies. The Research Coordinator reports directly to Dr. Marea and may provide guidance to graduate students, undergraduate research assistants, and temporary research staff. Activities vary seasonally and by project period (e.g., preparation, data collection, analysis, dissemination). The position contributes to Georgetown’s mission by supporting high-quality research that advances knowledge and serves the community.
Requirements and Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as public health, nursing, psychology, social work, or related discipline
Minimum 2 years of experience in research coordination or related research support role
Proficiency in statistical software (SPSS, R, Stata, or similar platforms)
Experience with data collection platforms (REDCap, Qualtrics, or similar systems)
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing for publication in peer-reviewed journals
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of human subjects protection and research ethics principles
Demonstrated commitment to reproductive justice
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a relevant field
Experience with qualitative data analysis software (NVivo, Dedoose, Atlas.ti, or similar)
Bilingual capabilities, particularly Spanish or other languages relevant to study populations
Experience with community-based participatory research methods, and liberatory and emancipatory philosophies
Grant writing and budget management experience
Knowledge of clinical research procedures and regulatory requirements
Experience with data visualization (R, Tableau, etc.) to create dynamic data presentations for publications, presentations, and public-facing communications
Social media, marketing, and public communication strategies

Pay Range The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position, which represents the full range of anticipated compensation, is: $41,926.00 - $65,090.00. Compensation is determined by factors including the candidate’s qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s needs and external factors.
