Job Title: Senior Quality Assurance Lead Location: Hampton Roads, VA Duration: 12 month to contract to permanent hire Base pay range: $40.00/hr - $50.00/hr (depending on experience). Weekly pay. Start Date: 10/27 target Employer: Insight Global Responsibilities
Quality Control Manager/Engineer for land bridges and roadway widening on I-64 for the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel expansion project. Establish an effective working relationship with contractors, VDOT and other inspectors. Assist in inspections to ensure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and special provisions on all phases of highway construction. Assist in the preparation of contract change orders and estimate inspector resources required. Manage sub consultants to coordinate the inspection sampling and testing of construction materials and activities to monitor compliance with contract specifications. Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Work independently in the construction field office and make decisions concerning construction quality in progress, resolving issues at the lowest feasible level in the field. Direct and oversee the inspection and material testing efforts on eleven land bridges and the connecting roadway widenings in the Hampton Roads I-64 corridor. Apply knowledge of construction methods, inspection, materials testing, daily report writing, and VDOT documentation. Possess VDOT certifications or in-depth knowledge of same. Plan, organize, and schedule daily inspection operations; make independent decisions; communicate effectively with co-workers, contractors, developers, and officials. Possess or demonstrate engineering knowledge such as structural mechanics, strength of materials, and materials properties for concrete and steel in highway bridge/road projects. Develop inspection checklists and testing plans, and draft memos, reports, and emails that convey technical information and construction issues clearly. Read and explain complex drawings and specifications to juniors; comply with federal, FHWA, state, and local transportation policies and standards. Qualifications
5-7+ years of relevant experience in quality assurance/control within a construction field. Experience supporting bridge, roadway, and/or tunnel projects. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients, team members, and stakeholders. Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to construction management, quality assurance, and safety protocols. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment. Preferred
