Overview

It all started with an idea at Block in 2013. Initially built to take the pain out of peer-to-peer payments, Cash App has evolved into a dynamic ecosystem with financial products including Afterpay/Clearpay, providing a way to send, spend, invest, borrow and save for 50+ million monthly active customers. We aim to redefine the world’s relationship with money to be more relatable, instantly available, and universally accessible. Today, Cash App has thousands of employees globally, with office and remote locations. We maintain a distributed team since day one, and many roles can be done remotely from the countries where Cash App operates. Regardless of location, we tailor experiences to keep employees creative, productive, and happy. The Role

We are looking for a Product Design Director to join our Banking team at Cash App. The Banking team helps customers manage and move their money – from cards and accounts to benefits, direct deposit, and savings. It is one of the most essential parts of the Cash App experience, touching day-to-day banking, and takes a horizontal view across financial products to ensure a seamless, intuitive, trusted experience. We seek an imaginative and driven design leader to shape the future of Banking at Cash App. As Design Director, you’ll report to the Head of Product Design and collaborate with cross-functional leadership and designers across the company to deliver best-in-class product work. You’ll be both a maker and a manager – directly involved in shaping what reaches customers. As a maker, you’ll define and lead the direction of our Banking experiences, across cards, deposits, transfers, and more. You’ll bring clarity to complex financial interactions and ensure our design reflects the brand, builds trust, and makes money management feel simple and empowering. You’ll push the boundaries of what’s possible and help deliver one of the world’s best-designed consumer banking experiences, while providing direction and actionable feedback to drive craft in collaboration with senior ICs and product leaders. As a manager, you’ll lead a distributed team of designers across critical Banking workstreams. You’ll guide career development, foster inclusion and creative excellence, hire and grow a well-rounded team, connect work across product areas, influence the product vision at multiple levels, and drive meaningful results for customers and the business.
