The

Director, Philanthropy

reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare (NMHC) and complies with the organization\'s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program and all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and regulatory standards. The Director leads planning and implementation activities for Northwestern Memorial Foundation (NMF), managing projects of strategic and operational importance to NMHC. They set departmental goals, provide clear direction and feedback to lead high-performing teams, and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance NMHC strategic initiatives. NMF raises funds to support the health system\'s strategic goals through: (1) raising planned, principal and major gifts; (2) cultivating and stewarding donors; and (3) fostering a culture of philanthropy at NMHC. Responsibilities

Lead and manage the planned giving team of three at NMF. Develop and implement the planned giving strategy for NMF with the goal of significantly increasing planned gifts, including marketing, education and training, gift officer collaboration, portfolio engagement, stewardship, and Legacy Society growth and management. Work closely with NMF\'s gift officers to close outright gifts, planned gifts and blended gifts (e.g., life-income gifts, bequest intentions, IRA distributions, retirement account designations, gifts of appreciated assets, charitable lead trusts, and gifts of real estate, including retained life estates and complex assets). Personally manage a portfolio of up to 75 prospects; identify, cultivate and solicit prospects for outright, planned and blended gifts. Provide technical expertise and planned giving assistance to gift officers, donors, and their professional advisors. Build and maintain relationships with professional advisors to inform and educate them about NMF\'s mission and impact. Maintain expertise in planned giving with emphasis on current tax and legal aspects; apply this expertise in discussions with donors, advisors and colleagues. Prepare and manage the planned giving budget and ensure goals are met within the budget. Set strategic vision for programs to support NMHC and NMF objectives; understand external market factors affecting goals and team strategies. Engage in activities to support fundraising, including donor development, stewardship, solicitation and relationship management of NMF donors. Develop and execute fundraising strategies including annual giving, planned giving, principal and major giving, and events as appropriate. Develop and sustain relationships with Northwestern University and campus partners to strengthen knowledge and create opportunities to support patient and program needs at NMHC. Develop, manage and grow a high-functioning team. Develop and manage operating budgets; maintain department policies and procedures relevant to responsibilities. Engage in professional development to strengthen leadership capabilities. Represent NMF at events related to donor cultivation, stewardship and fundraising; interact with donors and constituents at various levels. Respond to unanticipated complex issues and manage confidential information. Use metrics to assess outcomes and achieve goals. Required Bachelor\'s degree 8+ years in fundraising, community outreach, healthcare or development with a proven track record (preferably in non-profit) Experience with staff, budget and operations management Ability to earn the confidence of internal and external constituents and network within a professional environment Strong project management, organizational, analytic and problem-solving skills Excellent oral, communication and interpersonal skills High professionalism, integrity and sensitivity Strong curiosity, initiative and listening/communication skills Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage details Leadership and flexibility in a team environment Ability to lead multiple projects, set priorities, and work as a team member and leader Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Preferred Healthcare fundraising experience Public speaking and presentation skills Advanced degree Knowledge of Raiser\'s Edge database Additional Information
