The Sisseton, SD Indian Health Service , also known as the Woodrow W. Keeble Memorial Health Care Center (WWKMHCC), is seeking a dedicated and experienced Contract Dentist to provide comprehensive dental care to patients across all age groups, with a focus on improving oral health and overall well-being within the community.

Salary: $160 - $170 an hour
Overview Contract Dentist position at WWKMHCC within the Indian Health Service, focused on delivering high-quality dental care to patients of all ages in the Sisseton, SD community.
Responsibilities
Patient Assessment and Treatment Planning: conduct thorough interviews and examinations, review dental history, formulate comprehensive treatment plans, and perform clinical and radiographic examinations to assess oral health and identify issues.
Provision of Dental Services: provide a wide range of services including examinations, extractions, restorations, periodontal treatment, and prosthodontics; deliver care to patients from infancy to geriatrics with individualized treatment.
Patient Education and Counseling: counsel and educate patients, families, and the community on dental health practices and preventive measures; collaborate with medical staff to integrate dental care into overall healthcare plans.
Referrals and Collaboration: consult with other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care and refer to specialists as needed; schedule and coordinate appointments for care outside the facility.
Prescription and Drug Management: prescribe medications (analgesics, anesthetics, antibiotics) following IHS formulary; ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and maintain accurate records.
Documentation and Record Keeping: complete patient charting promptly and accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) within 72 hours of procedures; maintain proper dental documentation per required standards and IHS regulations.
Quality Assurance and Compliance: assess quality of care and participate in ongoing self-evaluation; adhere to infection control and safety procedures and standards set forth by IHS and AAAHC.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break; hours must be pre-approved by the Chief Dental Officer; no work on Federal Government holidays.
Qualifications
Current, active, unrestricted state dental license from any of the 50 United States or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Current, unrestricted DEA license to prescribe medications.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Prior experience as a General Dentist within the United States.
