Responsibilities We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Sports Medicine team. The CMA plays a vital role in supporting physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals by providing high-quality clinical and administrative assistance in a fast-paced, athlete-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for health and wellness, strong interpersonal skills, and a proactive, team-oriented approach to patient care.
Clinical Support:
Prepare exam rooms and assist physicians during patient evaluations and procedures.
Obtain and document patient vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints.
Administer injections, perform EKGs, wound care, splinting, and other procedures as directed.
Apply braces, wraps, and support devices under physician instruction.
Assist with minor in-office procedures and sterile technique preparation.
Perform and assist with functional tests and physical assessments as needed.
Patient Interaction:
Educate patients on injury prevention, rehabilitation exercises, and proper use of braces or orthotics.
Provide clear communication and instructions regarding treatment plans and follow-up care.
Act as a liaison between patients and providers to ensure smooth care coordination.
Administrative Duties:
Schedule appointments, manage patient check-in/check-out, and verify insurance information.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR).
Track inventory and ensure medical supplies and equipment are stocked and maintained.
Facilitate referrals, imaging orders, and prescription authorizations.
Qualifications Education:
Graduate of an
accredited Medical Assistant program
required.
Alternatively , candidates with
3–5 years of experience
as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) may be considered if they are a graduate of a
non-accredited program .
Graduation from a
registered Apprenticeship program
will also be considered as meeting minimum education requirements.
High school diploma
required if work will be performed in a
moderately complex CLIA-certified la
Certification:
Current
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
credential from a recognized certifying body (AAMA, NHA, NCCT, or AMT).
Basic Life Support (BLS)
certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
Experience:
1+ year of experience
in a clinical or outpatient healthcare setting preferred.
Prior experience in
sports medicine, orthopedics, or physical therapy
is strongly preferred.
