Data Engineer III Location:

Cincinnati, OH (Onsite 3–4 days/week) Overview

Our banking client is embarking on a large-scale data modernization initiative to migrate commercial enterprise data from DB2 systems to a modern cloud data platform. The

Data Engineer III

will play a critical role in this migration effort—designing, building, validating, and optimizing data pipelines that ensure data integrity, scalability, and compliance. This role combines

hands-on engineering

with

strategic collaboration

across business lines, data architecture, and infrastructure teams. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in

SQL ,

ETL , and

data automation , coupled with prior

enterprise-scale migration experience

in financial services or other regulated industries. Top Skills

Must Have Business Intelligence and Data Engineering expertise Strong DB and SQL knowledge (DB2, Oracle, or SQL Server) Experience with enterprise applications and integrations Proven success in large-scale data migrations (10K+ customers, multiple LOBs) Nice to Have

Java and WebSphere Application Server (WAS 9) familiarity Knowledge of data modeling and automation frameworks Hands-on experience with Python or ETL scripting languages Understanding of cloud data ecosystems (Azure, AWS, or GCP) Key Responsibilities

Design and implement

data migration strategies

from DB2 to Cloud. Develop and optimize

ETL/ELT pipelines

to automate migration workflows. Write and maintain

Python scripts

for data validation, reconciliation, and transformation. Define

migration phases , checkpoints, and quality control gates to ensure data accuracy. Conduct

data validation and reconciliation

between source and target systems. Collaborate closely with

DBAs, architects, application teams , and business partners to ensure migration readiness. Apply

data quality and compliance best practices

throughout all migration phases. Participate in

code reviews, documentation,

and

release management

processes. Qualifications

6+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering, ETL development, or Database Administration. Proven experience in

large-scale migration projects

(10K+ customers or multi-LOB environments). Strong understanding of

SQL, data modeling,

and

database optimization

techniques. Hands-on experience with

Python ,

ETL tools , or

data integration frameworks

(e.g., DataStage, Informatica, ADF). Familiarity with

cloud-based data platforms

(Azure Synapse, Databricks, AWS Redshift, or GCP BigQuery). Understanding of

financial data domains , especially

Payments

and

Treasury Management , is a plus. Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills. What You\'ll Get
