Overview

Heavy Equipment Mechanic role at R.J. Grondin & Sons. Diagnose, adjust, repair, and overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment such as bulldozers, graders, excavators, conveyors, crushers, and heavy haul trucks used in the construction and surface mining industry.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
• Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
• Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
• Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
• Keep detailed service records on equipment, vehicles, and trucks.
• Operate all types of mobile equipment safely to determine the best method to repair.
• Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Work on large mobile equipment with the ability to climb ladders and handle physically demanding tasks.
• Lift objects up to 50 pounds.
• Use wrenches and bars to access components and loosen bolts or clips as needed.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to work under time constraints to diagnose problems.
• Read and understand manufacturers\' manuals and specifications.
• Interpret machine or truck behavior against manufacturer\'s suggested settings.

Additional Experience

• Maine state inspection license is a plus
• 3-5 years of heavy equipment and truck maintenance experience
