Family Practice/Primary Care Physician Assistant

NP/PA opening in Texas - Location: Nacogdoches, TX - Houston 140m, Dallas 160m - Full-time, permanent positionPosition Overview: Performs professional duties as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in a community health center setting. Duties include actual hands-on medical care under the supervision of a physician. Included will be primary preventive care for all age groups and family planning services. May include prenatal/maternal care.Key Responsibilities: - Manages the care of patients in collaboration with other health care professionals and members of the health care team in order to make decisions about treatment and attain health goals. - Obtain histories and perform physical examinations. - Determine diagnosis and implement a treatment plan. - Request and review results of x-rays, laboratory tests and other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. - Evaluate need for and order immunizations. - Follow patients with chronic illnesses. - Patient counseling and education as required. - Perform minor emergency care and minor surgical procedures; i.e., wound care, nail removals. - Participate in peer review, quality improvement, risk management and other committee activities as required. - Participate in the developmental and periodic review of patient care protocols. - If bilingual, translates in Spanish between non-Spanish speaking staff and Spanish speaking patients as requested. - Performs all other duties as assignedQualifications:Graduation from an accredited PA or NP programActive, unrestricted license to practice in TexasNational certification and ACLS preferredSkills & Competencies:Solid foundation in pediatric primary careUnderstanding of community health principlesAbility to work effectively with underserved populationsStrong interpersonal skills and commitment to collaborative careCultural competency and ability to treat patients from diverse backgroundsCompensation & Benefits:Competitive salaryMedical, dental, and life insurancePTO and paid holidaysRetirement planAbout the Area:Nacogdoches, TX is a historic and vibrant town in East Texas, known as the oldest town in the state.
