Job Description - Kitchen Worker
Job Summary
The Cafeteria Worker performs routine tasks in the preparation and serving of various food items. The goal is to produce high quality, fresh and tasty foods, with nutritional integrity within the time constraints of our school schedule. Meals served will be compliant with regulations set forth under the USDA National School Lunch Program. The Cafeteria Worker must have a high awareness of customer satisfaction and project a genuine friendly and helpful attitude toward our customers and students.
Responsibilities and Duties
Prepares or assists in the preparation of a variety of foods; follows standard recipes, menus and portion control protocols. Under supervision, the Cafeteria Worker helps maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, food prep and storage areas. This includes, but not limited to, wiping down of tables, sweeping, cleaning of equipment. Sets up serving lines and steam tables Serves food to students, faculty and guests. Follows safety and sanitation protocols at all times. Complies with handwashing/glove polices. Ensures that foods and supplies are properly stored; labels facing out and food items labeled and dated. Completes temperature and sanitation logs. Washes, sanitizes, and stores dishes, pans, and utensils. Scrubs and sanitize work areas. Cashier; collects payments for food items, records transactions in the point of sale system accurately. Proficient in "offer vs. serve" and USDA reimbursable meals Performs other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee. Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required. Prior experience working in a school cafeteria or restaurant preferred. Must hold current Safe Serve or similar approved Food Safety certificate. Must have current Food Allergy Awareness Certification. Choke Safe Certification Employment based on successful completion of a CORI background check. Adhere to State Fingerprinting Regulation for school employees. Other
Reports to the Assistant Manager and/or the Kitchen Manager, SPS Food Service Director and Building Principal.
Must be able to effectively work in a fast paced operation with a diverse staff. Must participate in professional development and training in Child Nutrition to meet or exceed minimum USDA professional standards Must have good interpersonal skills. Works on feet most of day, ability to lift up to 50lbs.
