POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for driving the Zamboni correctly and safely to ensure that all areas of the facility are safe and maintain acceptable ice conditions. Utilizes standard tools, methods, practices, and materials of ice maintenance, to include edging, flooding low spots, filling holes and divots, and fixing hockey lines as needed. Position is responsible for supervision of Ice Rink Attendants while on shift and overseeing immediate Ice Rink needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Must be able to operate and maintain the ice-resurfacer and other ice-related equipment successfully and complete daily maintenance of all equipment. Operation of a skate sharpening machine, cash register, and various concession machines. Keeps maintenance logs up to date on equipment and facility including ice depth and compressor hour logs. Enforces facility rules and safety guidelines. Responsible for assigning tasks and supervising staff. Ensure proper opening/closing procedures of the Ice Rink. Performs minor maintenance to equipment and machinery and minor janitorial duties. Assists in measuring and laying out ice installation. Assists in snow removal to entrances/exits and walkways. Maintains cleanliness and supplying of the arena to include general custodial duties of all areas.
CORE COMPETENCIES: Must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s record. Must demonstrate strong customer service skills. Ability to respond guest requests for ice conditions improvement. Must have the ability to work independently as well as in a group atmosphere. Must possess strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Must use good judgment, take initiative, and respond diplomatically and professionally to issues. EDUCATION, TRAINING, & CERTIFICATIONS:
Necessary:
High School diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s record. A minimum of two years of experience performing skilled labor or trades work related.
