This is a per diem position.

Job Requirements:

  • The phlebotomist is responsible for obtaining blood specimens from patients. Proficiency in venipuncture and capillary puncture is required.
  • Follow laboratory policy on proper patient identification and handling of specimens. Provide care to patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics.
  • Be willing to cross-train to other job descriptions and float to other departments to meet facility needs.
  • Recognize signs and symptoms of stroke, call a stroke alert, verbalize the stroke alert process, draw blood for stroke panel, and deliver specimens to the laboratory for stroke alert patients.
  • Maintain currency in stroke knowledge by completing the annual 1-hour online training.

Qualifications

  • One year of experience as a hospital laboratory phlebotomist or graduate of an approved phlebotomy training course.
