This requisition is open to candidates at multiple levels of experience and certification: Registry Eligible, Echo/Vascular Tech I, II, and III. Placement will be determined based on qualifications, competencies, and years of service.
The Echo/Vascular Technologist performs a variety of diagnostic cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound exams under the direction of a physician. These exams assist in identifying abnormalities that contribute to accurate patient diagnosis and treatment planning.

Essential Functions

  • Prioritizes and schedules diagnostic exams appropriately. Coordinates with physicians, other caregivers, and patients to ensure timely and efficient care.
  • Prepares for exams by verifying patient identity, educating patients and families about procedures, and ensuring safe transport when needed.
  • Performs cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound exams following established protocols, ensuring high-quality imaging and patient comfort throughout the procedure.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians and care teams regarding findings and patient needs. Ensures safe return of patient’s post-exam and monitors for stability.
  • Documents exam results accurately and apply appropriate charge codes for procedures and supplies.
  • Maintains cleanliness and functionality of equipment and work areas. Reports on repair or supply needs through appropriate channels.
  • Participate in team initiatives, quality improvement efforts, and department goals.
  • Engages in ongoing education and training to maintain clinical competence and expand skills.
  • May assist in mentoring, training, or orienting new team members depending on experience level.
  • May participate in departmental meetings, educational conferences, or serve as a resource in areas such as quality, education, or technical expertise.

Minimum Qualifications

Registry Eligible

  • Completion of an accredited cardiac or vascular sonography program
  • Eligible for ARDMS or CCI certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers

Tech I

  • ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers

Tech II

  • ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in cardiac or vascular sonography

Tech III

  • ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac or vascular sonography
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
  • Must meet all the following:

Certification/Registry Requirements:

  • Hold three national registry credentials through ARDMS, CCI, or ASN
    OR
  • Hold one registry credential plus :
    • ≥15 years of cardiology/healthcare service
    • OR ≥10 years of cardiology/healthcare service plus a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

Competency Requirements (experience in any of the following):

  • Adult congenital echo
  • Pediatric echo
  • Structural heart interventions:
    • Aortic, mitral, tricuspid, pulmonic valve interventions
    • Valve-in-valve procedures
    • Alcohol ablation for HOCM
    • Lead extractions
    • Perivalvular leaks or septal closures
  • Cath Lab/OR support
  • Vascular surgery assistance
  • Pelvic congestion vascular competency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (degree will be verified)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$38.77 - $59.82
