Job Description
As a Security Guard - Unarmed Government Site in Santa Barbara, CA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. You will monitor and patrol designated areas to deter security-related incidents while remaining highly visible. You will conduct routine patrols, interact with individuals on-site, and provide outstanding customer service and communication. This is a Part-Time position offering flexibility to view and pick up open shifts via our exclusive Claim a Shift platform, helping you build a schedule that fits your availability while gaining site experience across industries.
This role is located at a government site and emphasizes agility, reliability, and integrity as part of a collaborative Allied Universal team.
Position Details
Position Type: Part Time
Pay Rate: $22.50 / Hour
Job Schedule: Day shifts (Thu 12:00 AM - 08:00 AM, Fri 12:00 AM - 08:00 AM)
What You’ll Do
- Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites
- Support operations across environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education
- Receive site-specific training and guidance from experienced teams
- Deliver consistent, professional security presence and customer service
- Be ready to fill in at short notice when urgent needs arise
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security procedures, following site-specific policies, and responding to emergencies as appropriate
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner
- Conduct regular and random patrols around the government site and its perimeter to deter unwanted activity
- Document and report security-related incidents, observations, or hazards
- Work collaboratively with Allied Universal team members and site personnel
- Adapt to varying working environments and conditions as required by the government location
What We’re Looking For
- Availability across various days and shifts
- Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments
- A desire to gain broad experience and grow within the company
- Interest in transitioning into full-time roles when available
Minimum Requirements
- Access control and badge experience is preferred
- Experience with alarm panels is preferred
- A valid guard card or security-related license is preferred
- CPR and first aid certification is preferred
- Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Background investigation as required by law; Allied Universal will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories
- Drug screen as permitted by law
- Licensing requirements subject to state/local laws; may be required prior to employment
- Valid driver’s license required for driving positions only
