Senior Project Manager, Avionics Manufacturing
Long Beach, California At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. This role focuses on driving the Avionics Manufacturing program from development into production of avionics boxes, harnesses, and instrumentation for Terran R. About the Team: The Avionics team is responsible for the full lifecycle of Terran R’s nervous system, designing, building, testing, installing, and operating the hardware that connects and controls every major electrical system on the vehicle. Engineers work closely with propulsion, GNC, fluids, and stage engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and operation. About the Role: This role supports the Avionics Manufacturing team as we transition from development to production of avionics boxes, harnesses, and instrumentation. The team owns the full lifecycle of Terran R’s avionics hardware. Responsibilities
Timeline/Schedule: Analyze requirements, resources, and dependencies to create and maintain a reliable timeline for Avionics Box, Harness, and Instrumentation delivery. Develop and manage master schedules that drive the program forward. Goal Tracking & Reporting: Monitor and report progress toward organizational goals and milestones. Communicate program status clearly to stakeholders, including Supply Chain, Production, and partner teams. Programmatic Risk Management: Identify risks across time, requirements, resources, and dependencies; act as the primary interface between propulsion engineering and the program risk management process; develop mitigation and recovery plans. Trades + Collaboration: Present trade-offs on budget, schedule, and technical risk with recommendations to guide program direction; work with Manufacturing leaders to refine trade analyses. Resource Management: Identify resource gaps and coordinate cross-functional planning for headcount, budget, and workspace needs; ensure efficient resource utilization to support objectives. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or related fields; aerospace, electrical, or mechanical engineering preferred 5+ years of experience in a program management role on a complex technical project Experience managing programs across matrix organizations, building sustainable processes, and coordinating design releases and key engineering trades Experience in manufacturing—developing factories, CONOPS, or closely aligned with a build Proven ability to solve complex technical problems and design robust, scalable solutions Strong communication skills across stakeholders and teams, with ability to navigate technical and strategic discussions Nice to have
Experience with hardware product development Experience in high-volume operations or large-scale, high-dollar project management MBA, Master’s in engineering, science, mathematics, or related fields, or equivalent experience Compensation & Benefits
