Overview

The Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) and the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) invite applications for a faculty position as a CIBMTR Scientific Director. Candidates eligible to be appointed to the rank of Associate Professor or Professor will be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to devote 60-70% of his or her effort to the CIBMTR role. In this strategic leadership position, the successful candidate will innovate to enhance all aspects of clinical data collection and use as part of the CIBMTR’s data pipeline initiatives, working closely with internal teams; and to develop and strengthen collaborative relationships with network treatment centers and international partners. Key Responsibilities

Lead clinical data innovation, covering all aspects of the data lifecycle, to enhance the impact and effectiveness of the CIBMTR registry in achieving its mission Partner with US treatment centers to maximize the strengths of registry data collection and use, while reducing burden Represent CIBMTR to international registries, influencing the development of globally harmonized clinical definitions and promoting collaborative research Collaborate with clinical informatics, disease-specific directors, and CIBMTR leadership. Contribute to CIBMTR and MCW’s strategic goals, funding growth, high impact publications and development of strategic partnerships. Clinical Role

The successful candidate will also have a clinical role in the Division of Hematology and Oncology in our internationally recognized cellular therapy clinical program. The clinical responsibilities include both inpatient care for patients undergoing advanced cellular therapies and a limited outpatient clinic with a focus on allogeneic transplant for myeloid disease. MCW’s cellular therapy program serves most of the state of Wisconsin as well as northern Illinois and parts of Michigan. We perform roughly 400 cellular therapy procedures yearly, including autologous and allogeneic transplant, chimeric-antigen T-cell receptor therapy and novel cellular protocols, including cutting edge and first-in-human clinical trials. The physician will be part of a multidisciplinary team and critically involved in the day-to-day management of complex patients. The team includes skilled advanced practice providers, transplant coordinators, nursing staff, pharmacists, and other specialists. The Division of Hematology and Oncology is a core center member of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network (BMT CTN), a lead academic center for the National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) and an active member of ECOG-ACRIN. About CIBMTR

CIBMTR is a research collaboration between the NMDP and MCW. CIBMTR collaborates with the global scientific community to advance HCT and cellular therapy research worldwide to increase survival and enrich quality of life for patients. CIBMTR facilitates critical observational and interventional research through scientific and statistical expertise, a large network of transplant centers, a unique and extensive clinical outcomes database and a large repository of donor and recipient biospecimens. Its longitudinal database currently has information for more than 700,000 patients and receives data for an additional 20-25,000 new patients annually. CIBMTR collaborates with the pharmaceutical and biotech industry through a corporate membership and research service fulfillment portfolio. Currently greater than 80 projects are ongoing in collaboration with more than 40 industry teams. Services provided include scientific expertise, data management and statistical support aligned with use of its real-world data registry supporting impactful industry sponsored projects, including the post-approval safety studies (PASS) for CAR-T, gene therapy and other novel interventions. Scientific oversight of CIBMTR activities is provided by over 15 MD/PhD Scientific Directors who are faculty in the Departments of either Pediatrics, Medicine or Data Science Institute at MCW, as well as 7 MD/PhD-equivalent Scientific Directors on the NMDP CIBMTR campus. Statistical support is provided by 30 MS statisticians over both campuses and 7 additional faculty PhD statisticians at MCW. An additional ~300 staff provide support for all aspects of CIBMTR’s data collection and research activities. Scientific Directors work closely with Operational Directors to provide direction and subject matter expertise. They also work closely with the scientific community, industry, patients, caregivers and other stakeholders to further the mission of the CIBMTR. About MCW

Ability to obtain an unrestricted Wisconsin medical license Prior experience and training in HCT and/or cellular therapy Board certified/board eligible in hematology and oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine Successful candidates will have a strong portfolio of research productivity as evidenced by success in grant funding and high impact publications. Experience working with the CIBMTR and formal training in research methodology is preferred, but not required. Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to patient care, clinical excellence and academic collaboration and a strong interest in teaching and clinical research. Application Instructions
