The Sanctions Program monitors, investigates, and mitigates sanctions risks to protect Mercury, customers, and the broader financial ecosystem. We are hiring a Sanctions Investigator to support watchlist screening, transaction monitoring, and managing alerts for politically exposed persons (PEPs) and adverse media. You will handle sanctions-related queues, balance risk with user experience, and report to the Sr. Sanctions Manager with support from a Financial Crimes team within Compliance. *Mercury is a financial technology company, not a bank. Minimize Mercury’s sanctions exposure and reputational risk through the review and adjudication of sanctions, PEP, and Adverse Media alerts Escalate potentially suspicious and/or fraudulent activity to the AML Investigations or Fraud Teams for further review Respond to sanctions support requests in the mailbox and Slack channels Document rationale for alert decisions with supporting documentation Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary volumes through false positive rule proposals Remain up to date on sanctions regulations and procedures Maintain a positive customer experience while mitigating any potential risk to Mercury Qualifications / What would make you successful
Experience or academic knowledge of OFAC, EU/UN sanctions, PEP, Adverse Media, and other AML watch list types Knowledge of banking products such as ACH, International Wires, SWIFT, checks, and debit cards Highly motivated self-starter, comfortable working in a high-risk environment with minimal supervision Accountability for the accuracy of information with strong quality control Clear writing and documentation of decisions Ability to manage relationships with external parties with confidence and kindness Love problem solving and improving teams, products, and processes Experience with LexisNexis Bridger and Firco Continuity preferred Compensation
The total rewards package at Mercury includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Salary ranges are competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and updated using reliable compensation survey data. New hire offers depend on experience, location, and internal pay equity. Target base salary ranges for this role: US employees in New York City or San Francisco Bay Area: $97,400 - $109,600 USD US employees outside the NYC/Bay Area: $87,700 - $98,600 USD Equal Employment Opportunity
