Overview

Paraprofessional / ESP - Therapeutic Program (Educational Support Personnel - Special Education) at Haverhill Public Schools. This is a full-time position at Silver Hill Elementary School for the 2025-2026 school year, with salary in the Educational Support Personnel Salary Scale dependent on degree and experience. Responsibilities

Under supervision of a certified teacher, assist with classroom instructional events and other educational or non-educational activities in accordance with the student’s IEP. Assist in implementing special strategies and interventions developed by the teacher to reinforce material or skills based on individual student needs, interests, and abilities. Provide positive role models and treat students with respect as members of the school community. Support the teaching process and work directly with students in academics, social skills, self-care (ADL’s), and vocational tasks. Support skill generalization and community integration; assist with addressing student behavior and encourage effort in the classroom. Use online platforms (e.g., Google Meet, Google Classroom) in person and virtually as needed. Complete onboarding and implement students’ IEP, district policies, and procedures. Act as a resource for communication between students and teachers regarding instruction and goal attainment. Assist with behavioral interventions and implement treatment, safety, and behavior plans as directed; may require safety/handling training. Data collection as instructed; work as a team with other staff (e.g., BCBA, RBT); apply ABA strategies as trained; execute discrete trials and de-escalation techniques; assist with toileting or lifting as required by IEPs. Contribute to curriculum modifications or accommodations designed by professional staff. Assist with non-instructional duties such as supervising and escorting students, proctoring tests, and providing makeup work assistance; assist with administrative duties during normal school hours. Qualifications

Passing score on the ParaPro or other state-approved assessment, or 48 college credits, or an Associate Degree. Willingness to cooperate with staff and follow directions; preferred experience with children in school or similar settings. Physical ability to move in/out of classrooms, stairs, lift and carry materials up to 75 pounds with assistance as needed; ability to kneel and move on floor mats. Good judgment, tact, confidentiality, patience, and enthusiasm; computer literacy and ability to learn and use assistive technology; familiarity with online platforms (Google Meet, Google Classroom) in person and virtually; bilingual preferred. Work Year: Ten (10) months (182 days) or Twelve (12) months (227 days) with 6, 6.5, or 7 hours per day; full-time status; bilingual preferred. Salary: In accordance with Educational Support Personnel Salary Scale: Associate Degree or Equivalent – $21.32 per hour; Bachelor Degree – $24.36 per hour.
