The George Washington University Police Department is seeking highly motivated individuals for the position of Police Officer 2. Our goal is to be the premier university law enforcement agency in the region; best paid, best equipped and best trained. The GW Police Department provides primary law enforcement and public safety service to a diverse university population of 25,000 students, faculty, and staff across two urban campuses located in Washington, D.C. The department is committed to encouraging professional growth and development of its officers and takes a progressive approach to promote public safety and community engagement centered on accountability, trust, and transparency. This is an essential on-site position that requires on-campus presence and is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Responsibilities

Patrol assigned areas and buildings to enforce DC laws and GW ordinances. Respond to emergencies by assessing the situation and using tact, diplomacy and individual judgment. May assist higher-level officers with fact-finding investigations or specific projects, and may appear in court regarding incidents within the University community as necessary. Perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties related to the position. This position is an essential work position, and these employees typically need to be on campus even when access to campus is restricted. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement. Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a phone screening interview, a physical test assessment, and a written test prior to an in-person interview. Must possess and maintain a District of Columbia Special Police License and meet the prescribed requirements and qualifications for the commission. Preferred Qualifications Hiring Range: $30.66/hour.
