Senior UX/UI Designer - Casual Games at Microsoft. Microsoft Casual Games develops popular games such as Solitaire, Sudoku, Minesweeper, and Mahjong across Windows, iOS, Android, and the Web. The role supports multiple products—live games and titles in development—within a cross-functional creative team to deliver intuitive and delightful gameplay experiences. You will design wireframes, user flows, UI components, and interactive prototypes, collaborate with product, engineering, and art teams, and contribute to user research efforts to inform design decisions. Create wireframes, user flows, and interaction diagrams for PC, web, and mobile game interfaces. Build interactive Figma prototypes to communicate complex design ideas. Deliver high-quality UI assets and documentation aligned with game aesthetics and accessibility standards. Oversee implementation and ensure UX/UI quality control. Make data-driven design decisions using user research, analytics, and usability testing. Lead user research efforts from planning to presenting findings. Foster clear communication and cross-team collaboration. Define content strategy and contribute written content. Facilitate design thinking workshops and brainstorming sessions. Present and iterate on design concepts based on feedback. Advocate for user needs while balancing business and studio goals. Support design reviews with data-backed recommendations. Promote and follow UX/UI and gaming industry best practices. Develop prototypes tailored to project needs (speed, fidelity, etc.). Present work to design teams, leadership, and users for feedback. Use tools to visualize and validate design decisions. Engage stakeholders early and often to refine solutions. Identify and propose solutions to design challenges proactively. Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Art, Writing, Behavioral Science, Data Science, Game Design, or related field AND 4+ years of experience in game development and design, systems design, content production, or related field; OR Associate’s Degree with 6+ years of related experience; OR equivalent experience. Have shipped at least 1 title released to consumers. 3+ years creating designs and using design systems in Figma across multiple screen sizes. 2+ years prototyping in Figma, Framer, or equivalent software. Preferred Qualifications
Portfolio showcasing design process: wireframes, user research, user flows, UI design, and interaction design. Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields with substantial experience in product or service design (see details in original description) or equivalent experience. 5+ years creating designs and using design systems in Figma, across multiple screen sizes. 3+ years prototyping in Figma, Framer, or equivalent software. Experience designing for multiple platforms and ensuring consistency across screen sizes. Familiarity with user research methods and applying findings to design decisions. Understanding of user-centered design, interaction design, and design systems. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment. Strong communication skills to present and articulate design concepts. A passion for gaming and understanding of how design impacts player experience. Experience with accessibility standards and inclusive design in gaming. Compensation & Benefits
Game Design IC5 — typical base pay range across the U.S. is USD 119,800 to 234,700 per year. A different range may apply in specific locations (e.g., San Francisco Bay Area, New York City metro). Base pay range for those locations: USD 158,400 to 258,000 per year. Some roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
