Overview
The Michigan Department of Corrections is a Michigan Veteran's Affairs Agency (MVAA) Gold Level Veteran Friendly Employer. MDOC employs many veterans and actively serving military members across the department. The department offers benefits and services to support military and veteran employees, spouses, and families. This position involves providing dental services within a Correctional Facility and other Dental Clinics as assigned by the Dental Director.
This is a test-designated position with direct contact with and supervisory responsibility over prisoners for more than 50% of work time. The position is located 100% within the secure perimeter of a Correctional Facility.
Note:
The pay range on this posting for classified Dentists includes a 20% critical pay increase.
Responsibilities Provide dental services to prisoners at the assigned Correctional Facility and other Dental Clinics as assigned. Services include, but are not limited to: diagnosis, operative/restorative, surgical (including extractions), and prosthetic treatment. Document and record patient treatment information as required by Dental Program guidelines to ensure performance compliance of supervised Dental Staff and to maintain the facility Dental Clinic operations to MDOC Dental Program standards.
Maintain established standards of care and clinic operation in accordance with program guidelines.
Qualifications
Education:
Possession of a Doctorate of Dental Surgery or Doctorate of Medical Dentistry degree.
Experience:
No specific type or amount required.
Licensure:
Michigan licensure as a dentist.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis. The Department will not hire individuals with felony convictions or felony charges pending, in accordance with Public Act 140 of the Public Acts of 1996. Applicants must meet ethical standards and all appointing authorities are obligated to enforce these standards.
