Construct is the leading nonprofit housing organization in the South Berkshires of western Massachusetts. Founded in 1969 by local residents, Construct helps its neighbors in 17 towns across south Berkshire County, Massachusetts stay housed and safe by offering affordable housing, rental and fuel support, temporary motel stays, transitional housing, and hope. This is a great opportunity for an experienced leader with strong knowledge of nonprofit management and fundraising, affordable housing, and rural poverty issues. Deadline: rolling. ABOUT THE POSITION
Construct is seeking an Executive Director who is passionate about its mission and can lead the organization with excellence. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Construct’s operations, including fundraising, program development, financial management, and staff supervision. Responsibilities Include: Organizational Stewardship and Board of Directors Relations:
The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors to ensure that Construct is fulfilling its mission and serving its constituents effectively. Staff Leadership, Management and Mentorship:
The Executive Director leads and supervises a highly skilled team of 12 that implements day-to-day operations, support services, property management and housing development. As a mentor to staff, the Executive Director motivates and empowers the team to achieve their best work. Fundraising and Development:
The Executive Director is responsible for cultivating and maintaining fruitful relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and community leaders. The Executive Director leads efforts to secure diverse funding streams through grants, sponsorships, individual contributions, and special events, ensuring that Construct has the resources to serve its mission and expand its programs. Financial Management:
The Executive Director provides fiscal oversight, working with staff and the Board to develop and manage budgets, ensure compliance with financial policies, and steward Construct’s resources responsibly for financial stability and long-term sustainability. Marketing, Communications and Public Speaking:
The Executive Director is a visible, vocal public figure who inspires others to engage with Construct’s mission. Program Development and Management:
The Executive Director leads Construct’s programs that prevent homelessness and foster long-term housing and economic stability. Strategic Planning:
The Executive Director guides Construct’s vision and long-term direction in collaboration with the Board of Directors. They develop, implement, and evaluate strategic plans that respond to community needs, strengthen organizational capacity, and position the organization for continued growth and impact. Qualifications Sought Include: Construct’s ideal candidate is a motivational leader with a proven track record of success in nonprofit management. A strategic thinker who can balance short-term needs with long-term planning. A gifted communicator who can passionately and effectively represent Construct and its mission to a variety of audiences. Qualifications sought include: Passion for Construct’s rural affordable housing mission. Affordable housing experience, and knowledge of housing issues in rural communities, is desired. Significant, successful experience in nonprofit leadership. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with significant, successful experience leading organizations and people. Significant, successful experience in nonprofit fundraising and development, including grant management, donor cultivation, and community engagement. Strong knowledge of nonprofit financial management and budgeting. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, Board of Directors, donors, sponsors, and other stakeholders.
