Job Title: College Success Manager Reports to: Director of DC Programming Job Status: Full-time Classification: Exempt / Salaried Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 Application Deadline: November 10, 2025 Starting: December 2025 Location: Washington, DC Schedule: Hybrid; 2 in-office days and 3 remote days. Mon - Friday, 9am to 5pm. Some special events will occur outside regular work hours. Weekend events are required 1-2 times per month throughout the year. Position Summary: The College Success Manager works with the Director of DC Programming to manage the Generation Hope Scholar Program, which helps teen parents across the DC region become college graduates. The role manages Scholar Program Coordinators, collaborates with the Director of DC Programming to improve processes and outcomes, and represents Generation Hope to nonprofit partners, students, donors, and other constituents. The ideal candidate has a track record working with youth, a background in college access and/or college success advising, financial aid, experience in managing a team, strategic planning skills, strong customer service, and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. They must have an interest in serving students of color and low-income students. Responsibilities Scholar Program Leadership Design programming in collaboration with the Director of DC Programming that challenges, engages, inspires, and supports Scholars, including pre-service support for incoming Scholars (light-touch case management, impact evaluation, and identifying Scholars needing support). Support the program team in troubleshooting issues within Scholar/Sponsor relationships and develop strategies to improve these relationships. Design and execute strategies for serving specific student populations (e.g., student fathers, undocumented students, First Generation college students). Ensure Scholars receive stellar training by collaborating with program staff and the Events Manager to plan two in-service trainings and the Summer Bridge program each year, aimed at enhancing skills that drive graduation success. Work with the Operations department and Program Assistant to oversee the tuition disbursement process, including verifying amounts, confirming institutional details, and maintaining clear communication to prevent discrepancies. Maintain in-depth knowledge of federal and school-specific financial aid policies to train and support staff and Scholars. Convene and manage the Scholar Leadership Council to connect Scholars, develop leadership skills, and contribute to programming. Provide ongoing support to Generation Hope mentors by assessing their experiences annually, planning activities to foster mentor relationships, and communicating mentor needs to the program team; manage the Sponsor Leadership Council and mentor-related feedback. Collaborate with the Director of DC Programming to evaluate the quality of the tutoring program, monitor tutor matches, improve training, and partner with recruiting to develop tutor recruitment strategies. Management and Leadership Supervise up to five Scholar Program Coordinators, including weekly 1:1s and monthly supervisory sessions with guidance, case audits, and development. Assist Coordinators with developing individualized academic plans and setting goals for Scholar success. Facilitate weekly case management meetings to discuss events, deadlines, and learning opportunities. Coordinate bi-weekly program team meetings and regular morale activities for the programming team. Case Management As needed, manage a small caseload of up to 10 Scholars, providing academic, holistic, and culturally competent support to help them earn their degrees. Data and Evaluation Track and maintain Scholar data (contact information, GPA, mentor meetings, etc.) using evaluation tracking software; work with the Director of DC Programming to collect and analyze data for program evaluation. Advocate for student parents and connect them with appropriate resources; maintain flexibility to address unexpected challenges. Other Develop and strengthen relationships with local colleges and universities to benefit Generation Hope Scholars. Represent Generation Hope at relevant events such as conferences and roundtables; maintain professional knowledge through workshops and publications. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree At least five years of experience working with youth, particularly from marginalized communities At least two years of experience with college counseling and/or case management At least three years of demonstrated leadership and experience managing a team Access to a vehicle to travel around the DC metro area Willingness to adjust hours for Scholar needs; available for special events and trainings, including evenings and weekends Unquestioned integrity and commitment to Generation Hope’s mission and values Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with teen parents Experience with college students in academic advising, student support, or counseling roles Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a graduate certificate in higher education Experience with program evaluation Bilingual Spanish/English Knowledge of financial aid processes and benefits for low-income populations in the DC area Understanding of higher education policies related to student parents Competencies Ability to analyze and interpret program performance data and make data-driven adjustments Public speaking skills for formal and informal settings Commitment to understanding and dismantling systemic racism Strong relationship-building and ability to inspire action Excellent written and verbal communication; strong organizational skills Strong customer service ethos and quality standards Experience planning and facilitating workshops and events Ability to build rapport and make people feel comfortable Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds Work Environment Normal office environment. Some work will take place off-site during special events. Travel This position may require occasional overnight travel for activities in and out of the DC Metro area. Must be able to travel to attend trainings, conferences, project sites, and related activities. Candidates must be able to meet the onsite work schedule by the start date.
