About the Community New Mexico is a rural state, surrounded by high-desert landscape and ample wildlife, rich with historical tradition and folklore. Primary languages are English and Spanish coupled with other Indigenous languages such as Navajo. The terrain is supportive of outdoor lifestyles including mountain biking, hiking, sightseeing, fishing, hunting, winter, and water sports. The cuisine is embedded with rich culture of Spanish and Indigenous people’s ritualistic recipes leaving you to answer: red, green or Christmas? Albuquerque acts as the hub of NM, as it is the biggest city and centered geographically in the state. Patients from outlying areas seek care for acute and chronic conditions in the metro area, which is served by three main health systems: Lovelace Health System, Presbyterian Health System and University of New Mexico Hospital.
