Overview
Physician (MD/DO) – Family Practice position with US Department of Veterans Affairs. Vacancy locations listed are at the main campus of each healthcare network. Additional vacancies are available at surrounding community based outpatient clinics (CBOC). Duties
Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work-up and clinic intervention, including comprehensive patient assessment, health history, physical examination, and patient education to Veterans in the Primary Care team setting. Work collaboratively with other health care professionals to accomplish patient, service, and medical center goals, promoting the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model of care, utilizing ICARE values throughout the clinic. Distinguish between normal and abnormal findings to establish a diagnosis and initiate appropriate response to emergency health problems. Order and evaluate diagnostic tests as appropriate, recommend treatment and/or referral. Initiate appropriate referrals and consultations to other clinical services. Initiate, evaluate, and change orders for medications. Follow Performance Measure guidelines, including completion of clinical reminders; access and timeliness standards; prescription order entry, National VA formulary Requirements, and customer service standards. Demonstrate flexibility in responding to clinic demands, adhere to personal and professional obligations and responsibilities. Practice and maintain ethical standards, and sustain a work environment that is harmonious and customer service oriented. Assist with arranging continuity of care across the VHA system as needed. Work to provide leadership on site to ensure care is completed in required timeframes. Participate in Quality Improvement activities. Participate and attend medical center committees as assigned. Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. CME: Possible $1,000/year reimbursement (full-time with board certification). Subject to background/security investigation. Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process. Residency Training: approved core specialty training leading to eligibility for board certification (ACGME or AOA). Other US training programs with appropriate experience may be considered. Education
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine from LCME- or AOA-approved schools; ECFMG verification for foreign medical graduates if applicable. Preferred Experience
