Performs a variety of maintenance and operational tasks to support school and park facilities, special events, athletic fields, and surrounding grounds, including cleaning and stocking park restrooms and preparing picnic shelters for reservations. Performs school grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, weed-eating, litter control, and other general maintenance tasks via school work order system. Works in various outdoor conditions performing physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting, walking, and prolonged standing. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external customers, contractors, and team members. Communicates effectively and performs other work as required. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; two years of experience in maintenance, general labor, or custodial work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be highly motivated, goal driven and a self-starter; strong interpersonal and communication skills, and able to work well with others. Must possess or obtain within nine months of employment a Registered Technician Pesticide License. Current valid driver\'s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out-of-state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required. This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Shift: Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; includes some evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work Location: Parks and Recreation Additional Information
