Sr Technical Product Owner / Manager to lead the technical delivery and stewardship of key data platforms. Highmark/enGen is rebuilding a data ecosystem with a modern hybrid iceberg data lakehouse at its core. The role will be responsible for how data is globally registered, accessed, and delivered through a Unified Access Tier / Semantic Layer for humans, automation, and AI systems. You will be accountable for delivering the Unified Access Tier while engaging in emergent areas of growth and innovation. You will understand the interdependencies of most data and AI platforms and trade off speed, delivery, and excellence. Establish partnerships across technology teams, maintain trust with engineering teams, and align work with key business stakeholders. You will translate the value of engineering activity into business value. Daily responsibilities include overseeing priority, scope, and validation of work required to deliver a core foundational capability. The role requires deep technical understanding of data access, enrichment, catalog, and integration, with knowledge of emerging best practices and data architecture patterns for modernizing with Iceberg format. You will communicate business strategies and operating models to unlock improved customer experiences and outcomes, and maintain transparency and alignment with cross-functional leaders. Note:

Essential Responsibilities

Empower teams to manage their work by setting clear priorities and scope from the team backlog. Make trade-offs and negotiate with stakeholders (e.g., Product Management, Program Management, business leaders) based on team capacity to determine the backlog. Develop and maintain the product delivery roadmap.

Collaborate with stakeholders such as external clients, product management, portfolio leaders, and others to create and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap. Represent the product in governance meetings and track status to leadership.

Navigate Product Management and Product Ownership roles, collaborating with external customers and the internal product team.

Utilize market trends and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product enhancements. Act as the voice of the user, understanding needs and challenges to drive iteration of features with UX collaboration.

Drive the product development process from concept to launch, ensuring high-quality deliverables. Own end-to-end delivery of new features and improvements; participate in solution estimation.

Serve as servant-leader for cross-functional teams with a portfolio of products. Work with agile program and team metrics. Empower the team to manage their work by setting clear priorities and scope from the backlog.

Accountable for technology product value; consult with the business regarding value realization.

Provide guidance and mentorship to Product Owners.

Incorporate stakeholder feedback as needed and clearly articulate backlog items and acceptance criteria. Communicate product updates, progress, and challenges to executive leadership and other stakeholders.

Prioritize and own the team backlog for multiple Sprints (3+). Proactively identify new initiatives/themes with clients and product management. Resolve backlog challenges including sizing, priority alignment, and timely dispute resolution.

Clearly communicate business-friendly release notes with operational impacts and product issues to business stakeholders.

Accept stories as “done” when developed, tested, and meeting acceptance criteria.

Ensure accuracy of team data representing targeted outcomes; monitor and report OKRs and KPIs to stakeholders.

Education

Required : Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or similar discipline

Experience

Required : 5 years of Product Ownership, Strategic Consulting or Design Thinking OR Product Development & Management, Project/Program Management

Preferred :

5+ years of enterprise platform product management experience and/or architecture driving transformation through data platform modernization. Experience in regulated industries (e.g., Healthcare, Financial Services, government).

2-5 years of Enterprise-level experience with Semantic Layers. Experience with Starburst or Dremio.

2-5 years of data architecture experience including end-to-end data governance with ability to articulate modernization approaches.

Strong storyteller, comfortable presenting to executive leaders (technical and non-technical).

AI/GenAI: experience leveraging these tools within a data ecosystem, with governance implications.

Experience with technologies such as: GCP, Databricks, Confluent Kafka, BigID, Atlan, Starburst, Tableau, Salesforce, Hadoop/Hive, Teradata, Oracle, DB2, and others.

Healthcare data platform experience integrating systems like Facets, Availity, Kryus, HealthNow, NCompass, etc.

Licenses or Certifications

Required : None

Preferred : Agile certifications (e.g., Scrum.org, SAFe, Scrum Alliance), PMP, or similar certifications.

Pay Range Minimum: $92,300.00

Maximum: $172,500.00

Base pay is determined by qualifications, experience, equity, market, and other factors. Salary ranges may vary by location.
