Overview
Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is engaged in a search for a Chief Accounting Officer for an international investment firm supporting rapid growth in real estate development. This newly created position reporting to the Chief Investment Officer will lead the global accounting function, overseeing accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance for the investment vehicles and the advisor. You will lead and develop the Washington D.C. and international Finance Teams, managing vendor relationships, enhancing process controls and systems. We are seeking an experienced hands-on CAO to join the leadership team of our rapidly growing business. Base pay
$325,000.00/yr - $375,000.00/yr Additional compensation
Annual Bonus Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Controls: Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely forecasting, valuations, financial & performance reporting. Tax: Ensure global compliance with regulatory requirements, including tax filings, indirect taxes (e.g., VAT/GST), transfer pricing and local statutory filings. Audit & Controls: Manage the audit process. Continually monitor and enhance internal controls to prevent errors and safeguard the fund’s financial assets. Risk Management: Work closely with teams to identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks as well as monitoring risk limits. Systems & Operational Efficiency: Select and implement an accounting platform, driving process improvements and system enhancements to support scale, efficiency, and transparency. Team Leadership & Development: Lead and develop a geographically distributed accounting team. Investors: Support the launch of new products, investor due diligence, reporting, distributions, and capital calls. Financing: Work closely with our Capital Markets team to onboard and maintain financing arrangements, lender reporting and loan covenant monitoring. Service Providers: Select & manage service providers including fund administrators, auditors, and tax advisors. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Accounting degree and/or Masters with an active CPA. Public accounting including big 4 audit experience preferred 15-20+ years of prior experience in a U.S.-based real estate investment management company with global operations. Proven success in building finance teams, systems and controls. Proficiency in GAAP & IFRS financial statement accounting and understanding of financial flows. Strong quantitative/numerical skills and proficiency in Excel. Knowledge of taxation for REITs/real estate investments. Must be highly process-oriented and have experience with organizational control environments. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong work ethic and self-motivation. Demonstrated professional verbal and written communication skills. Strong leadership skills; works well with internal and external team members and drives execution through collaboration, networking with top executive presence.
