We are seeking a data-driven Director of Ecommerce to lead and grow our client’s digital retail business. This individual will oversee our largest revenue channel and combine strategic leadership with hands-on ownership of our ecommerce platform, tools, and performance. Job Title : Director of Ecommerce Location : San Francisco, CA / Hybrid Reports to : Chief Marketing Officer Key Responsibilities
Lead ecommerce strategy and execution, including site performance, conversion, and merchandising. Own all aspects of the ecommerce P&L and drive optimization to meet financial goals. Build and mentor a high-performing team focused on both strategic growth and operational excellence. Collaborate cross-functionally across merchandising, logistics, creative, engineering, and wholesale to deliver a seamless customer experience. Partner with data analytics to leverage insights across marketing, merchandising, testing, and customer journey improvements. Maintain clean and accurate ecommerce data pipelines for product, customer, and order information. Drive platform innovation and evaluate new tools and features that enhance scalability, automation, and personalization. Oversee and optimize the ecommerce tech stack (e.g., Shopify Plus, post-purchase tools, reviews, personalization, integrations). Act as primary liaison with external developers, analytics providers, and platform partners to maintain and improve site performance. Ensure site security, compliance, and uptime in collaboration with technical teams. Optimize digital experiences—including virtual try-on and lifecycle programs—to enhance both new and repeat customer engagement. Lead organic and paid search strategies in partnership with external agencies. Oversee other digital sales channels, including:
Managing and expanding the Amazon business profitably. Developing and testing international growth strategies.
Qualifications
9+ years of ecommerce or digital leadership experience, ideally in retail, consumer goods, or similar industries. Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, feedback-driven environment and enjoys solving complex business problems. A hands-on leader who can shift seamlessly between strategic vision and tactical execution. Strong business judgment and decision-making abilities. Deep experience with Shopify Plus and related third-party apps, with comfort operating within a Shopify ecosystem. Analytical mindset with fluency in tools such as Google Analytics, GA4, Looker, or Tableau. Proven record of using data to drive ecommerce growth and improve customer experience. Familiarity with APIs, integrations, and collaboration with development teams. Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills. Salary : $140K-$170K Seniority level
