Data Center Microgrid Electrical Project Manager – Paramus, NJ. Our client is a leading microgrid solutions provider delivering design, build, commission, and operation of microgrids for critical facilities, partnering with data centers across the US. The company serves Enterprise Clients, Colocation Providers, and Hyperscale Companies, offering commission packages with products positioned to monitor leading-edge technologies. The Microgrid Electrical Project Manager will support critical facility microgrid construction projects, managing them from cradle to grave (estimates, execution, procurement, and post-implementation support). The role includes leadership of contractors and vendors to deliver electrical projects, ensuring on-budget and on-time delivery while meeting Company Design Standards and project objectives. The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized with strong back-office skills (change orders, budgets, processes) and has progressed from the electrical trades on the commercial side. The Microgrid EPM oversees delivery and execution of behind-the-meter (BTM) or off-grid microgrids, gas-fired power plants, and solar storage systems for hyperscale and colo data centers. This role combines business acumen, problem solving, and a builder’s mindset to expand the data center power solutions vertical and build trusted partnerships in the industry. Responsibilities
Project focus will exceed 500MM in value with emphasis on new construction Construct microgrids providing Distributed Energy options: Solar, Battery/Energy Storage, Gas Generation to support data center operations Maintain logs required to track project progress Oversee the project through administrative direction of on-site supervision to ensure adherence to design, budget, and schedule Ensure the design phase integrates execution details into project plans (e.g., natural gas requirements, operational feasibility, vendor alignment, risk assessment) Manage customer expectations, technical requirements, and regulatory considerations to stay on track Manage relationships with regulatory bodies, utilities, and local authorities for approvals and compliance Execute infrastructure updates for the site, including natural gas pipeline connection and potential lateral builds Maintain liaison with contractors and vendors to manage day-to-day activities affecting project delivery Lead EPC oversight to ensure vendors and contractors deliver on customer expectations and timelines Track construction progress against the schedule and proactively resolve delays or bottlenecks Conduct regular site visits and progress reviews, ensuring quality, safety, and contractual obligations Serve as primary point of contact for senior leadership during construction, providing updates and addressing concerns Promote Company Standards in project delivery across all projects Manage financial aspects of contracts (progress billing, equipment rentals, income/expenses) to protect the company’s interests while maintaining client relationships Qualifications
Experience with EPC for large-scale infrastructure projects such as data centers, powerplants, or microgrids Proven track record delivering projects on time and within budget with high quality Regulatory compliance and infrastructure development experience Experience managing permitting, utility connections (e.g., natural gas pipelines), and other regulatory requirements for large energy or data center projects Familiarity with local, state, and federal energy regulations Customer-focused project leadership Experience with hyperscalers, colocation providers, or large-scale customers Transparent communication with internal and external stakeholders Experience managing Data Center Construction Projects as a General Contractor Budgets management for 500MM+ and P&L experience 5+ years of supervisory experience / people and resource management Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings and blueprints BA/BS/Associates degree a plus but not required Client-facing/relationship management skills Solid Construction Project Management experience Independent worker: self-starter, self-motivated, detail-oriented Travel to project sites as needed Strong administrative skills OSHA certification or ability to obtain within first 12 months Computer proficiency: MS Project, Excel, Teams, Oracle Primavera P6, Bluebeam, Procore, AutoCAD (a plus) Military/veteran experience is a plus; relevant electrical/mechanical backgrounds (e.g., Navy nukes, Seabees, Power Generation roles) are beneficial Submittal Instructions
