CICOA is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults and individuals with disabilities in Central Indiana with services such as home modifications, meals, transportation, caregiver support, care management and community health programs. We’re on a mission to empower our community and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to live well at home and maintain their independence.
Leads the organization’s financial planning, accounting operations, and external financial relationships, either directly or through delegated staff. Develops and executes a strategy to transition CICOA’s fiscal team in-house within six months of hire.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned. Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organization's mission and long-term goals. Advise the CEO and Board of Directors on financial planning, sustainability, and risk management. Lead annual budgeting and multi-year forecasting processes. Serve on the CICOA Strategy Team, senior leadership team that provides overall direction to the organization. Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, cash flow, and financial reporting. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Present financial reports to the Board and Finance Committee with clear analysis and recommendations. Compliance & Risk Oversight
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, including IRS and nonprofit-specific requirements. Maintain internal controls and financial policies to safeguard assets and ensure transparency. Manage audits and liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies. Coordinate with other departments who have routine audits, such as Human Resources. Assures agency compliance with governmental rules and regulations pertaining to grant funds. Fundraising & Grant Management
Collaborate with development staff to align financial reporting with fundraising goals. Oversee grant budgets, reporting, and compliance with funder requirements. Track restricted and unrestricted funds, ensuring proper allocation and usage. Accounting & Treasury Functions
Supervise accounting staff and ensure proper bookkeeping, reconciliations, and payroll processing. Manage banking relationships, investments, and cash reserves. Monitor liquidity and ensure adequate funding for operations and programs. Team Leadership & Collaboration
Lead and mentor finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Work cross-functionally with program, operations, and development teams to support financial literacy and decision-making. Support Board committees such as Finance, Audit, and Investment. Systems & Technology
Oversee financial systems and software, ensuring efficiency and data integrity. Implement technology solutions to improve reporting, budgeting, and donor stewardship Core Competencies

Manages fiscal departmental staff. Facilitates the strategy to in-source the full fiscal team within 6 months of hire. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in accounting from four-year college or university; and a minimum of five years of accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of two years of supervisory and management experience. Certified Public Accountant preferred
