Gilbane is seeking a General Superintendent to lead field operations on high-profile construction projects valued up to $100M. Directs the day-to-day coordination of Gilbane’s trade contractors and their sub-contractors to ensure high-quality work that meets the approved project schedule Manages the project budget for general conditions and site services Develops, documents, and communicates the work plan regarding changes made in the field Maintains a thorough understanding of contract documents to proactively anticipate potential problems Obtains or verifies that subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposes Acts as primary safety representative in the field and enforces safety compliance with all trades Develops safety strategies and drives safety culture across all project personnel Creates and implements the project schedule, contingency plans, and manages site logistics Establishes credibility among owners, trade contractors, unions, and other project partners Resolves jurisdictional disputes with support from senior leadership Leads contractor meetings and maintains daily reports and documentation Trains direct reports on processes, procedures, and completion of daily tasks May assist with scopes of work, buyout, and preconstruction activities Supports collaboration with business development to align project execution with company strategy Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment Experience / Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management 10-15 years of experience on $30-$100 million commercial/industrial construction projects or multiple projects in a lead superintendent role OSHA 30-hour certified STS-C Certification First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed Training Or equivalent combination of education and experience Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong technical and communication skills; excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities Ability to participate in sales processes, interviews, and presentations Team-oriented with the ability to work in a collaborative environment Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction software tools Construction-document and drawing literacy; knowledge of all phases of construction Experience with all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control Familiarity with Pull Planning Process Strong knowledge and enforcement ability regarding construction safety Ability to create an environment where safety is the priority and incidents are minimized Experience supervising a project team What’s in it for you?
