Overview
Tantus Technologies, Inc. (Tantus) is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer to support the technology group for our federal client located in Washington, DC. The engineering position will perform a variety of tasks and activities related to application migration to AWS, implementation and maintenance of AWS Cloud environments and services, and full SDLC support. This position supports a federal contract and requires U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status, as well as the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available AWS infrastructure using cloud-native services (e.g., VPC, Subnets, Routers). Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation to provision and manage infrastructure. Create and manage containerized applications using Docker and run them on Amazon ECS; optimize ECS cluster performance, configure auto-scaling, and manage rolling updates. Use Amazon ECR to store, manage, and deploy container images; implement automated image scanning, vulnerability management, and compliance reporting. Design and implement load balancing using AWS Application Load Balancer (ALB) and Network Load Balancer (NLB); configure health checks, listener rules, and target groups. Implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or Git Actions; automate testing, deployment, and rollbacks of applications to ensure quality and reliability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and implement solutions; communicate technical designs, plans, and progress to stakeholders. Apply AWS security and governance practices (e.g., IAM, CloudTrail, Config) for security management; ensure compliance with client and industry standards. Maintain knowledge of cloud technologies and support client transformation initiatives; work within CI/CD patterns and policies. Leverage experience with the Atlassian tools suite (Jira, Confluence) and knowledge of Terraform (Terraform experience preferred). Support federal government agency work requirements and obtain necessary clearances as needed. Familiarity with Content Delivery Networks and Drupal is a plus. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field. Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience with AWS services, including VPC, Subnets, ECS, ECR, ALB, NLB, and CI/CD tooling (e.g., Jenkins, Git Actions). Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation. Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (ECS). Knowledge of load balancing concepts and experience implementing ALB and NLB. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and implementing Jenkins or Git Actions. Cloud security and compliance knowledge (AWS IAM, CloudTrail, Config). Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with cross-functional teams. Federal government agency work experience and active Federal Agency Clearance preferred. Experience with Content Delivery Networks and Drupal is a plus. Employment Details
Salary range: $170,000–$200,000 per year. The salary range reflects various factors including skills, experience, training, certifications, and organizational needs.
